YOUR CONSULTATION

At your Coast Skin consultation, brief questions will be asked to determine

  • any concerns you may have - like any new or changing lesions.

  • your skin cancer risk

A total body skin examination will be conducted.

  • This does not typically include the genital or female breast area unless you have concerns.

       (a chaperone may be requested)

  • The scalp is very difficult to examine through thick or long hair. Its best if an assistant/ partner/ hairdresser can progressively comb through damp hair noting the location of any lesions for checking prior to your appointment.

Your skin lesions will be examined with a dermatoscope. If there are concerns digital imaging may be taken.

Management options and recommendations will be discussed before any treatment plan is agreed upon. Some lesions can be treated at the time with liquid nitrogen. Surgical excisions normally require a seperate appointment.

Make-Up/ Foundation/ Nail polish

  • Its amazing how effective make-up is at hiding spots – it hides them from the dermoscope as well. Subtle lesions including cancers on your face can be missed unless make-up is omitted or removed prior to your examination.

  • Serious lesions under the nail are very uncommon but invisible under nail polish. If possible remove nail polish before your appointment.

Consultation Costs

  • A Full skin check typically takes approximately 30 minutes and costs $230.

  • A Short skin check of typically 3 to 5 lesions costs $140.
